Tea in the Park

Tea in the Park has had nine lives so far and next year – 2013 – will be the 10th anniversary: a milestone to look forward to. Meanwhile back to this year’s event. It will run from Wednesday 1 August until Sunday 2 September inclusive, open from 11.00am until 5.00pm daily. As well as the tried and trusted favourites, both on the menu and among the stalls, there will be something new. Look out for our Diamond and Gold special offers. Dish of the Day will feature food from all the continents represented by the Olympic movement; our popular quiz will have an Olympic theme, and look out for details of our Olympic knitting marathon!

Originally conceived by the then Chair of the Community Association as a one-off fund raising event Tea in the Park has gone from strength to strength and is the main source of revenue for a host of projects within the area. The first year the profits went to Glenlivet Hall for urgent repairs, the second year for the equipment for Marypark Play Park and in subsequent years the revenue has been split between Glenlivet Hall and the Community Association Goodwill Fund. This fund distributes money for many useful and good causes. The profit last year, split between the Hall and the Community Association, was over £8,000!

The stalls, featuring crafts people from within a 30 mile radius of Glenlivet, also took over £8,000 – thus benefitting the local economy.

Entirely staffed by volunteers this is a very special event and is recognised as such by the people from all over the north east, plus passing tourists, who flock to it year after year for multiple visits. Join the throng! You’ll be most welcome.
